The most obvious and main-stream way of purchasing vehicles would be through the manufacturers themselves. Such a place will conist only of vehicles of the same company, and will generally have a much larger price tag than the same product brought from a different source, although the buyer will be safe in the knowledge that it is completely authentic, brand new, and 100% legal. A similar frame of mind will exist when purchasing from a licensed retailer, which also offers more variety and cheaper prices.

For the best value for money, though, many people look to buy cars second-hand, as it will usually be cheaper, easier to access, and an overall simple process. The methods of sales will range from being in a specific second-hand sales shop or garage, to a seller-buyer direct transaction. Such deals will most often be extremely beneficial to all parties, as sellers (and businesses where used) get a suitable amount of money from the buyer, who in turn receives a vehicle which they will have likely chosen from several advertised in the area, meaning that there is probably an element of desire about their purchase. The only potential issue about buying second-hand is that some sales are not legal, but this very rarely happens.

The other emerging method of selling vehicles is online. This will again be mainly second-hand, and is a good way for a buyer to easily try to find a vehicle that fits their exact requirements. Sites such as Auto trader and Ebay auction sites are best at fulfilling these criteria, and in the process getting the best deal for all concerned.

Car auctions are a more localized, long-standing version of the Ebay concept. The only issue with these services is that there are sometimes long distances that need to be covered to view/buy the product, but this problem will be minimized provided that the user searches well.

The prices of such vehicles will differ greatly, and will all depend on where it is being sold (e.g. a car may be £15,000 direct from a showroom, but £12,000 when bought second-hand). As mentioned earlier, there is a monumental amount of vehicle transactions around the world each year, and is a testament to the growing popularity of these sales, due to the many methods that it can be done with.

There will be the odd ‘bad sale’ of a vehicle with so many happening, but it is generally an ‘everybody wins’ type of business in the great majority of these transactions. Car auctions tend to provide the better sell but also come with a certain chance if not gone about the right way.
